I have come into a Springfield Trapdoor rifle. I'm dropping it off to be inspected next week. If it's deemed safe I want to find some ammo for it. Who makes Black Powder or smokeless equivalent rounds safe for these actions?

It needs to be 28000cup or less, and boxes will be labeled as such, so no need to shoot black powder unless you want to. There's tons of ammo makers that make trapdoor safe ammo, actually most is. You'll find three categories....trapdoor safe, lever gun safe, and Ruger no1 and bolt action safe loads. Congrats nice find by the way! Regular Remington 405gr factory ammo is perfectly safe as long as your gun is still safe.

Congrats nice find by the way!.

Thanks, it belonged to my Grandfather who passed away about 20 years ago. He apparently had quite a collection of old guns that sat in the back of his closet. Including some British made muskets that were pre-revoluntionary war. I got this, the Murata I posted in another thread and an Old Japanese Sword that I need to find someone to give me some info on.
