I think I would want an attorney of my choosing to check that one out. For some reason, it sounds fishy...

...like the NYT putting out bait to catch gun owners with full auto weapons when the trust might not really work as the article states.

I didn't read the article, but there is nothing fishy about buying NFA firearms through a Trust. Perfectly legal.

I have heard it claimed by some that trusts allow purchases by people who can't legally own the item purchased. Purchasing a firearm through a Trust does not change the legality of owning or possessing said firearm, if you are a prohibited person and are in possession, you are violating the law, regardless of how you obtained it.
