BAGHDAD, Jan 6 (Reuters) - The United States-led military coalition against Islamic State said on Monday that it was pulling out of Iraq and would be repositioning forces over the next few days and weeks, a letter seen by Reuters showed.

"Sir, in deference to the sovereignty of the Republic of Iraq, and as requested by the Iraqi Parliament and the Prime Minister, CJTF-OIR will be repositioning forces over the course of the coming days and weeks to prepare for onward movement," read a letter from United States Marine Corps Brigadier General William H. Seely III, the commanding general of Task Force Iraq.

The authenticity of the letter, which was addressed to the Iraqi defence ministry's Combined Joint Operations Baghdad, was confirmed to Reuters independently by an Iraqi military source.

When the United States has bass in Libya and was told to leave, we took al the valuable equipment with us and bulldozed and leveled the bases, buildings, hangers etc to the ground. We've invested a LOT of money in Iraq and lost a lot of lives and perhaps we should bulldoze our bases there. As for leaving, one side of me says good but another says for the amount we've invested why be forced out? We have enriched warlords, government officials in Iraq as well as many government officials in the United States all for nothing.

The vote in the Iraq parliament was a non binding vote. It holds zero legal status.
The Sunni's were not there and the Kurds were not there for the vote.
The letter posted by the OP came from a one star US General that will likely be a major before he leaves Iraq.
