My boss gave me some old cartridges he found out in a garage somewhere and among them was the one in the pictures below. No markings and looks like a rim fire to me. It’s pictured next to a .38 S&W for comparison. Possibly a revolver round since it’s rimmed? Anybody know what this thing is?

It looks like a horizontal pin fire round. Probably 32 or 38 cal.

There is no place for a pin anywhere around the base of the casing itself. I’ll put calipers to it later and get some dimensions. Just guessing, I’d say 7.5 or 8mm bullet?

The projectile? is very hard, not lead. Maybe steel or aluminum. The cartridge will fit in a .38/357 cylinder and rotate through the action being turned. The dot in the center of the base lines up with the firing pin. I tried to use a bullet puller and disassemble the thing, but no dice. I tried a few good smacks on concrete but it didn’t budge. I’m thinking at this point it may not be a cartridge at all. Maybe a toy bullet from some long lost 60’s era play set.
