There was a time in the early 2000’s that I was seeing some of the sporterized M1 Carbines and other WW2 & older rifles for ~$300 and less. Should have bought some. I’m not particularly interested in always having original guns.

I own a 7.7 Jap that has been restocked with a Bishop stock, sporterized and rebarreled to a .300 Savage. Actually a good shooter.
The ballistics of the .300 Savage is identical to the .308 win.
