I can't conceptualize why, but don't disagree. Maybe some of our dims can check in and let us know?

In order to obtain power and wealth from a stable, healthy society, you have to be competent and capable, respectable and honorable.

When the bonds that tie together functioning societies break down, power leaks out, and if you're a spiritual rodent who can't make it in a healthy society you can set yourself up to capture some of that power as it escapes into space. So it's in their interest to undermine and weaken the country in duplicitous and surreptitious ways.

This explains a lot of politician's actions.
