Update on Needing advice between a rock and a hard spot

So after great discussions with my mother after soliciting advice here this is the update.

Mom is being a enabler again. She got my brother's car out of impound. Is letting him move into her house for 6 months, and has to contribute to chores. Agreed to let her get his paychecks and help him manage his money. In addition he will make payments to her for $400 per month until this last bail him out of $1100, + impound fee is paid. She also stated that he quit smoking.

I am on one hand not happy about this, on the other hand if things go as planned and she manages his money, etc. and he learns then it will be a good thing. On the other hand I hope he learned his lesson, but I suspect it will all be the same in 6 months to a year from now.

Oh also she updated tags and got insurance. He supposedly is working on his license.

I hope you are wrong K, but I fear you may be right ... Doc, you and your family will stay in my prayers. We have family members with issues also. It's a difficult road to walk. You never really know if you are doing the right thing by them ...

I am hoping he realizes how close he was. Without help from my mother this time, he truly would have been in jail or homeless or both.

Sadly, some times it takes that to wake people up. Sometimes it doesnt.
