Looking to source front and rear facing cameras for my vehicle (2020 Toyota Tacoma)

The critter does have a GoPro mount on the windshield and thats a thought but i am heavily invested in Garmin products in other areas of my life and didnt know if anybody had any experience with a project like this

I dont even know how they would work without some kind of cloud based connection -- do you run memory cards and the like with them and do they zero out and start over after a couple of days ?

Just getting started on this --- i am having to fully instrumentate my house as well, but the Nest cameras for that use are easy and integrate with the rest of the "Big brother is watching " Nest stuff (doorbells, thermostats, etc. )

My son and I have both been using Viofo dash cams for over a year...no problems. They use memory cards that eventually overwrite old recordings.
From what I hear the amazingly cheap dash cams do not last.

I use a Redtiger and my family has the slightly older version that is two channel, in their cars. Works fine and checks all the boxes. On the memory, yes they roll over when they fill the card up. They are supposed to be able to sense an accident (G Force sensor) and protect that file from being written over. I bought bigger cards for all mine just because and I had the cameras professionally installed to hide the wires, looks much neater. Any car audio place can do the installs if you don't want to do it yourself. Oh and you can buy cloud connected cameras, but they are much more expensive.

I already posted my response in the other thread, but those cams are almost important with the insurance claims now to prove without a doubt who is wrong or what happened.
I was driving down the blacktop road that accesses our driveway at a rate of speed that was probably not prudent when one of the overhanging walnut trees dropped a nut that took out my windshield.
It was on the phone when placing my claim but I could imagine the eye rolls on the other end when repeating the story.
Offered to send pics with the green matter of the husk still on the windshield, but they declined and paid for a new one.
It would have made a nice short on YouTube though had there been a cam recording it.

This reminds me of the story of the policeman who freaked out when he heard an acorn hit a car and thought it was a gun, so he cleared leather and emptied his magazine into the back of his car

Mine is a - sort of a stalker scenario and my attorney advised me to be pro-active and record everything.
If you had told me years ago that an attractive woman would be following me around and driving past my house at odd hours , i would have thought it prudent to unlock the doors and put out a sign that says "Open for Business!"
Real life is not quite that romantic, however
