Do you prepare the beef heart the same way?Good stuff, beef heart too.
Do you prepare the beef heart the same way?Good stuff, beef heart too.
The deer I shot this year didn't have a heart.
In fact, most of the deer I've taken over the last several years didn't.
Meaning, my 150 grain 308 bullet turns it into liquid goo.
It's not "organ meat," it's a muscle just like other flesh with tendons and connective tissue, hence it tasting like, you know, venison. Liver, testicles, the stomach, intestines, etc. -- items made up of membranes or glands -- are organs.Something about the texture of the meat makes me want to puke. My Dad loves organ meat, I give it to the dogs.
Or shoot through the lungs. Like the deer from which this heart originated.Neck. Shot.
Yep same.Do you prepare the beef heart the same way?
Thanks. I'll ask for mine next time we get a side of beef. I always get the liver and tongue but I've never done anything with the heart. I wonder if a pigs heart could be prepared the same way.Yep same.
I tried it this year. Love chicken hearts but couldn't get past the texture of the deer heart. Maybe I prepared it wrong. Don't know.Something about the texture of the meat makes me want to puke. My Dad loves organ meat, I give it to the dogs.
The heart is an organ, saying it’s not is…odd? It's not "organ meat," it's a muscle just like other flesh with tendons and connective tissue, hence it tasting like, you know, venison. Liver, testicles, the stomach, intestines, etc. -- items made up of membranes or glands -- are organs.
