Please do enlighten me. I always hate when someone so readily points out the problem and walks away without offering solutions.

I am not trying to thumb my nose at them, simply trying to make gun owners more visible. If people walked around the mall and walmart and Reasors and saw multiple people every day wearing firearms related clothing the thought might occur to them "Holy crap, look at all these normal people going about their days who own guns." Gun owners are not a highly visible group of individuals, for obvious reasons. Typically it is not advantageous to try and draw attention to yourself as a gun owner but right now I think is a time when it IS advantageous to attempt to show the general public how many people are gun owners.

With practically every single AR available in the US being sold (so it seems) if everyone who owned one was mandated by the government to wear a "yellow star of David patch" this coming Friday I think the general population would be shocked by how many normal people among them are responsibily enjoying the firearms that they want to get rid of.
I agree . People say there are better ways but never tell us what they are.

Some ways to change minds about firearms:
Write a polite well-reasoned letter to the editor
Invite a novice to go shooting
When talking mention in passing that you are a gun owner. If they appear interested tell them why gun ownership is a good thing and gun restrictions are bad
If you belong to a shooting club or range, put up a booth at public events to recruit new members and answer questions.

If you can wear a subtle gun shirt and be a "nice guy" while doing so they that could be good also. My criticism was based on a lot of the shirts pictured here that are of "make my day" variety.

I have some of the RangerUp t-shirts, one that says "I like (facebook thumb) Guns" and "Love" spelled out in rifles, bullets and grenade, but I never wear them. All I have, I am too big for my spike's tactical AR shirt.

I agree those of the "Keep Honking I'm reloading" variety would not be conducive to conversation that would result in anything good. I am talking about wearing a Glock shirt or a Stag Arms Shirt or a LaRue Tactical Shirt or Colt or whatever your favorite roll mark may be. Support a company you like and potentially educate people in the process.

You make a good point about the distinction between the " ...keep honking..." and logoed apparel. More importantly you mention conversation. In order to change the minds of the mis informed or ignorant it is imperative that they be engaged in a positive and non threatening manner. I have found introducing someone to shooting is usually a superb way to make converts and serves as an excellent vehicle toward rationally discussing gun ownership as it relates to our rights.

One of the mindsets we are working against is that gun owners are "gun nuts." And that it is selfish of us to want to have our toys when they are resulting in the death of children. "Too bad if you can't have your toys, we need to do something - anything to protect kids."

A conversation between gun owners and the general public is needed to explore what can really be done to protect kids. Usually I think we should ask them what they think can be done to protect kids in school, politely listen and then explain why something will or will not work in a reasonable manner. Ranting about our rights will do no good.

I have a shirt that i got from wal-mart that has a character with a gigantic AK looking rifle. It says: I'm all about gun control, the one with the biggest gun is in control. Some lady at reasors said she liked it until she read the last part. She was like ohhh nevermind.
