Reminds me of a story I read several years ago. It seems that an office had a thermostat on the wall and it controlled the entire floor. The employees had different tolerances to the cold and heat and several of them had a habit of walking up to the thermostat and adjusting it to suit them. Then other employees would come along and adjust the temperature further. The office manager got tired of the heat and cold inconsistency in the office and installed a second thermostat closer to the employees desks only this thermostat was not connected to any wiriing at all, it was just screwed to the wall.
The employees would walk up to this thermostat and adjust it and were happy as was the other employees that opted for a change in the office temperature by "adjusting the temperature."
