Two things to remember about Oklahoma.

1. El Reno kinda sucks (town is run down but I know some good people who call it home too).
2. People take high school sports WAY too seriously in Oklahoma.

I might reverse the order of the two comments but I agree with what you wrote.

El Reno has the best sushi in the metro (Ume)
El Reno has the best gas station food in the metro

Pecina's is an excellent Mexican restaurant.
OKC has better onion burgers.

I also don't visit ER after dark.


When I delivered car parts for a living, I once got in a lot of trouble for going to "the ghetto" (29th and May) instead of "El Ghetto". Those parts were about an hour late getting to El Reno

I got a buddy who is a CO in Michigan. I asked him one time if he was ever worried about an inmate getting out and tracking down him or his family. His response with a chuckle, “they’re never getting out”.

Being a newly adopted Okie I’m still trying to figure some things out here. Soooooooooo is there something wrong with El Reno ie is it an SH_ _ hole? We (Elgin) played them this past Friday and our team after winning was threatened with being shot and stabbed! WT Heck?? The police had to respond and escort our team to their busses where they were egged and then had to have a police escort out of town. Holy Crap!! Not sure how to even respond. Sounds to me like El Reno is a place to be avoided, much like South Chicago and East LA. Yikes!!!!

I lived there 10 years or so back. Major problem when a couple of inmates were found missing. Finally found shooting pool with the firemen!
