Some things are cheap - some are better described as bang for the buck.

I've had an NC Star Red Dot on top of my S&W 686+ for the past 6 years. It has held zero all that time without issue. Not the brightest optic on the planet but it is clear as a bell and good enough for daytime work. The thing is worth every penny of the $60 or so I paid for it.

Maybe I got lucky and drew the good one out of the box. Somehow though I don't think so.

Deffinately more affordable than an ACOG or EOTech.

Get off my lawn.
The margins on NC Star products are incredible. Thats why they line the aisles at the gun shows. I wouldn't sell them as it is garbage and I don't want to be the first level of support for them.

Agreed. ACOG or EOT costs a lot more than NcStarr. As long as my little low cost NcStarr scope gets me a kill on varmints & game.. I'm satisfied. I'm not gonna be lighting 'strike anywhere' matches off the cement wall at 200 yds like Jed Clampet or his nephew Jethro. I'll be shooting coyotes, hogs & deer @ 100-200 meters. And my NcStarr can certainly get that done at a reasonable price.

I know, you get what you pay for but NC Star runs a full range of items from very cheap to pretty decent. I have had one of their early scopes on my BOHICA .50 BMG for almost two years now and have never had a problem of any sort with it. BTW, there are a whole lot of big name scopes that are now made in China ..... you might be surprised. Just my 2 cents worth ....

Yes, but it's all about the QC - NcStar has absolutely none, so if you get a good one then great (but most likely you won't). I've owned two of their red-dots and one of their mounts as well as two etched-glass scopes and I had something go wrong (usually catastrophically) with every one of them.

For Bang for Buck, there are a lot better choices out there (also made in China, but with a tighter grip on QC).

Out in the woods.
Got one of their PEPER style scope mounts and like it really well so far. $36 instead of over $100 for the real name brand mount. Have a red dot and scope of theirs and they are $40 pieces, not great but workable. I think of their products as proof of concept pieces, if I like the concept of say a red dot on a gun, and I like the way a NC Star works , then I'll go get another "better" piece.
