What has two thumbs and is in the SICU @ the VA?

This guy. I had a clinic cardiology follow up appointment today. Pulse was a steady 130 and apparently I have an atrial flutter (not AFIB)! They said to get to the ER stat for immediate treatment. Pulse hasn't responded to IV meds. Going to have a cardioversion tomorrow with TEE & possible ablation. This is a shock. Aside from a murmur I've never had any cardiac issues, ever. This on top of last week's dental nightmare is really reminding me of my age.

That was yesterday. Here we are almost 24 hours later. Still NPO and starving! Doc came round around 9:40 to explain and get consent for the procedure. No time yet for it. Patience is not one of my virtues. I did celebrate another first. I got to pee in a plastic urinal!

Hope they take care of you, and get you better fast! I'll be making my first visit to the OKC VA in August, nothing near as serious as what you're dealing with though!

Quick update. Procedures are complete. No atrial clots and pulse is back to normal. That was one hell of a shock (200 joules!). Next steps are blood thinners for 4-6 weeks and a home monitor.
