What size Trolling motor

I have a 10' flat bottom john boat and I need to buy a trolling motor for it. I am looking at either a 30# or 40# and wonder if I should be cheap or spend the extra 70ish for the 40#. Suggestions?

I would go for the 40lb. Reason why, is if you get caught out in some open water, or in some current in a creek, the extra thrust will come in very handy.

rule of thumb for power on a boat. Better to have it and not use it than not have it and need it! Don't get stuck against the oklahoma wind!

Buy the 40 pounder for the above reasons.

Buy the 40lb one or make sure you start out into the wind for an easy ride downwind on your way back. Get an oar too.
