[QUOTE="Jack T., post: 1985675, member: 412"] For many, I think it will be the last straw. Further, I think the longer we go, the more people will be on that "last straw" bus. Firearms have always been a last resort. You hear about that in concealed carry classes, you read about it in history class, you read about it in the Bible (okay, not firearms, but the personal defense weapon of the day). So you have the Patriot Act. . .and NDAA. . .and all the other things. But I still have a firearm on my hip, which means that as a last resort there is *nothing* anybody can force me to do that I unequivocally DO NOT want to do. If it comes right down to it, I can use the "oh ****" bullet. All that to say this: people that have firearms still have control over their own lives. They get to make the choices. You and your gang of thugs wanna rape my wife and make me watch? No, as a last resort I can shoot her to save her the misery. Want me to, I dunno, force me to betray somebody I love? No, I can, again, use the "oh ****" bullet and leave you holding the bag. A wise man once said "God made all men. . .Samuel Colt made all men equal." Take away the Colt, and you take away the equality. . .and I'm not that keen on that idea. It's a subject that doesn't get much talk. Either a) you sound like a gu-ho "we've got a badass" over here joker, or b) you sound like a tin-foil nut. But I suspect there are a *lot* of loving fathers, sane husbands, or just normal grounded men who have considered that question in private, and made the decision not to put themselves at the mercy of a government that doesn't allow its citizens to own firearms.
