I haven't remotely come close to handling every watch out there, but this one comes the closest to the look and feel of a modern Rolex on your wrist (mainly the Explorers and Submariners that I've handled). Poor man's Rolex or not, it's definitely one of the best alternatives, as are the monochrome METAS Black Bays. Even if costs were equal, I still think that I would prefer the Ranger dial over the Explorer dial. I think the Ranger has a better bracelet as well (unless the Explorer's bracelet clasp has been recently updated and I'm unaware of it). All in all, I think the Ranger is a bargain, especially on the used market.Simple and practical.

That's what I use for a desktop computer. There are lighter ones made with beads and paracord for aero explorers looking for the entrance to the center of the earth.
It's nuts how good those watches are. I wear mine twice as much as any other watch I own, with the exception of the Pogue. Those get about equal wrist time.
I would need work pretty hard to develop an inferiority complex for wearing one.
That only works up to the teeners. Once he gets into the eleventies, he needs a fancier watch so that when he crashes, they'll know he had good taste, which the Borneo residents always demand of lost explorers.
Been posting mostly in the pocket dump thread - but have not worn this watch in a while and due to it being a kinetic I figured it was time to charge it
