We have our insurance thru my wifes small family owned company that builds refinery equipment and we're back with Aetna again after a few years with a couple of other health insurance companies and I think theyve been way better than the two companies they tried in between. Our bills have always been paid pretty quick by them and we havent been refused any services. Myself I havent had any health concerns so my only experience interacting with the insurance carriers we have had is just with 6 month regular checkups with our family MD/GP, getting meds when I need em, and a few visits to the ER. The wife though has had shoulder surgery 5 years ago, a heart attack 4 years ago with 3 stints put in, a high potassium/kidney problem the next year, back in after another heart problem the next year, and then an ER visit with a broken foot. I was taken to the ER after totaling a car out, and another time after an anxiety freakout. The Xray and blood labs our Doc uses are conveniently located right across the hall from his office; our med prices and access to generics has been good; co-pays arent that bad; etcetc. To each their own I guess. The only problem I can remember me ever having wasnt the insurance companies fault it has just been in selecting a specialist I can like for a nagging old knee problem. My wife on the other hand really likes her heart specialist.
