I never thought I would use a vanity plate but then these current Plates showed up and that pushed me over the edge. I do NOT like them at all and hope they are changed again soon.
In my opinion we have had much nicer plates in the past and the Oklahoma plate should have some symbols that represent the state better than a bird. [ maybe an oil derrick - a Native American symbol- airplane- wheat sheaf or combination of these ]
I even liked the old plates from 40 years ago that were plain with the slogan "Oklahoma is OK" . The current plain Texas plates kind of remind me of the old OK Plates.

I guess if the folks at the Tax Commission have a sense of humor we could put a Casino and a Football on the standard State issued plates.

I've been asked for my 'regular' license plate and sticker numerous times when stopped by law enforcement after they checked my vanity plate. AND I also made the stupid mistake once of getting the two stickers messed up somehow and ended up with a ticket. Because they won't let you do them at the same time - my regular plate comes due on May or something, while my vanity plate comes due in I think Sept. So two plates for my truck, then we had one for each of three other vehicles, it seemed there was always a notice arriving in the mail and it was a bit confusing, I guess.

We got it sorted out and have dropped one vehicle now, too, but still... I just don't see why you can't tie your vanity plate to your regular plate in terms of due date just for simplicity's sake... but then.... they made a little extra money off us that year, maybe that's why? Lord knows, they're not in the business of making things easier on the citizens they 'serve'.

We could also do what was done in the sixties, making the license plates and painting them the colors of the winners of the bedlam football game. Black and Orange. White and Orange, White and Red.

Or go even further back to when they switched colors seemingly at random. I have a collection of OK plates covering about 20 years starting in 1930, and looking at them, I can see yellow on black, black on yellow, black on white, blue on white, orange on green (farm truck), and orange on black, amongst other color combos. Then they had the neat fonts from the mid to late 1940s with the curlicues and graduated thicknesses - here’s an example from 1945:

I know a lot of folks have, and are still, complaining about the current plate design. I don't know why. I seldom look at the plate in front of me at a light, etc. It's just a number to me.

Because it sucks and I do not even want it close to or on my car.
I see the License Plate every time I open my rear gate to access my cargo area and that is frequently.

I've received numerous compliments in Parking lots on my Oklahoma Aviation Themed Plate.
Never had anyone come up and compliment the Standard Bird Plate on my Wife's Car.

Can't come soon enough. Probably like speed limit changes. Take several years.
