For a knock around / working grade 1911 you can't go wrong with Rock Island / Armscor and from what I've read they have excellent customer service.

I've owned two of their 5" 1911's in 45ACP, I put a bunch of ammo through each and never had a bit of trouble with either one....I gifted one to a buddy and sold the other.

Just called Atwood's in Norman and they've got the parkerized 5" 1911-A1 in 45ACP in stock for $399.99 + tax.

Tisas for around the same price is also supposed to be a good gun but I've never owned or fired one.

Thank you. I’m kinda hoping to find something in trade at the moment, but I will keep that in mind

I've only got one Tisas Zig M1911 .45acp, and it's got a couple hundred rounds through it with no failures not related to a couple cheap surplus store magazines. The factory Mecgar & some after market Chip McCormick mags all function flawlessly. Love it!
