There are plenty of people who need assistance and aren't leaching off the government. Do you throw them out into the street and under the bridges?

even if SS only were to pay out to people who had paid in, the unfunded liabilities that are present WILL bankrupt SS and Medicare and ultimately bankrupt the country (actually it will lead to a hyperinflation in the money supply).

Unfortunately, SS and medicare will basically have to end or at least be so transformed from their present state that they will be unrecognizable to us. I believe that the current unfunded liabilities of both programs together are in excess of $100 Trillion dollars

Simply saying that SS should only go to those who have paid into it will not help. The retirement age will have to be raised, taxes will have to be raised, or benefits will have to be cut (or some combination of all three)

Sadly, I think what will happen is that both government programs will simply collapse under their own weight or become so bloated, that a hyperinflation of the money supply will greatly reduce the purchasing power of SS payments which would be a de facto collapse

ETA: When i say "sadly" it doesn't really upset me. I would love fewer things more than to see both programs collapse. But it will suck for those currently depending on it

So, you're saying that you'd be perfectly okay with the elderly, many of whom depend on social security to be able to survive, being evicted from their homes and be made to live on the streets, dying as a result of starvation and not having the financial means to purchase needed medication? A vast majority of people have paid into the system their entire lives, have gone into retirement age, and all you have to say about taking away what little livelihood they have left is "but it will suck for those currently depending on it"?

How about cutting the unnecessary government spending, bailouts, and money sent to foreign countries for crap that we shouldn't be involved in? How's that for a solution, instead of putting the elderly out in the streets to die a miserable death, essentially exterminating them?

That's because people who aren't paying into the system, including illegal aliens, are being allowed to draw social security which takes it from people who have paid into the system. That is the reason social security is broken.

I have accepted the fact that I will never get to retire. Fortunately, I've chosen a profession that will allow me to work until I'm in the grave.
