My grandson with his first duck ever. A small Woodduck. He used a Rossi youth .410. He is six and loves to hunt. Yes I am proud.

My boys enjoy duck hunting more than any other hunting activity. Its a lot of fun (they're starting to call a little this year - its getting more exciting).

Thanks for posting this dad,
This is my son and we had an absolute blast this morning.
We went with a couple buddies and their daughters and had ducks on us before we were ready. We didnt take into consideration the extra time it would take to get set up with the kiddos. We ended up with two ducks total, Corbin's Woody drake and a Mallard drake that a friends nephew shot. It was really cool to see the kids get into the action.
Here are a couple more pics from this morn.

Thanks for the coments guys, my boys love it and cant wait to get back out there this weekend. I have taken them deer hunting a few times this year and they do really good for a 6 and 4 year old, normally they sit for about 1 1/2 -2 hours and then they are ready to call it a day. I just want them to have fun and not try and push them to stay longer. I have not gotten a deer with them yet but hopefully that will change soon.

Anybody else take thier kids out for some waterfowl hunting? I can't wait until my boy is old enough.

How old is he? The key is to get them used to the Shotgun first - I got mine 20ga shottys - one is a pump and one is a Remington 1100LT 20 youth (used fixed-Mod choke).

With AA target loads, they were bearable, but they could barely lift the shotguns, so quickly mounting (properly) and quickly acquiring the target was a key - lots of clay pigeons died from hitting the ground before they started getting good at that.

My youngest scored his first one almost by luck still. Still, its fun as can be.
