Any ideas on a .40SW in a 1911 type frame?

Hello all,

Have been looking around and not finding tons of choices for a factory made 1911 style gun in .40SW caliber, outside the "custom" (high $$) types.

Anyone have (or had) something to give me their impressions or can point me to any off the shelf types that I am missing?

Thanks

I may be wrong, but I think STI has a .40 cal 1911 or two.

Also what is your price range? That will help keep the suggestions to firearms you can realistically afford.

Thanks for the link - checking into it now... can you tell I am working on a holiday??

Intended use? General shooting.... maybe competion someday...

Was just looking for something "different". I have a couple of 1911 type .45 ACPs, like their simple design, and maintainence, etc.

And I do not have a .40 right now... unacceptable! Have had Glocks in .40, just never cared for them... good guns, just not my cup o tea...

Price range ? flexible, but really not wanting to get into the $1000 plus custom types... would like to stay in the $500 - $700 range... if possible..

Wow,

The STIs look sweet..

Of course, they also look to be about double what I was looking to spend right now.... might be worth saving up for though..

you might be able to find a hicap para in 40sw for around 700.

Check on buds gun shop.com theyve had a bunch of used paras.

STI is gonna be your best bet, otherwise you're gonna have a tough time finding a .40 in that price range. You MIGHT be able to find a used Full size .40cal Kimber, Colt or Springfield somewhere but they are rare and most likely are gonna be pricey.

You can try a Para but I wouldn't pick one up without letting a smith look at it.

If you want a sweet deal on a para hi cap .40, shoot Scott parks a note. I believe he has one that he will make a sweet deal on. Sparks40 is his username.
