I'm just wondering about the external extractor. I know that they tried it on the 1911's for a while, but stopped because they were coming back with issues. Maybe kimber has it figured out now. Either way, its a nice looking pistol and I'm gonna have to go check one out soon.

Just thinking, wonder what recoil will be like with such a smooth gun being so light?

Anyways, may have finally found a Kimber to give my SN meaning again. I like the looks of it.

So was yours a functioning sample? Have you shot it at all?

I shoot a relatively hot 124gr load in my PF-9, which is 5 ounces lighter, and smaller to boot. If the Solo is not too slick to hold onto, it should be too awful bad. Is it rated for +P?

Very cool; I just finger-poked this pistol, but have not read the intervening posts here... just my initial thoughts thrown out here...

Aluminum frame ==> Good. But no front or backstrap checkering ==> Bad. It's definitely slippery. However, this is easily remedied by a smith with some checkering or stippling on the aluminum, albeit at extra expense / hassle.

Trigger - very Kahr-like ('pre-sprung DAO') ... Medium length, medium weight. About what you want in a defensive pistol, for most people. Again, just about exactly like a Kahr, which is to say, about the same length as a XD or Glock, but a scrunthair heavier.

Trigger re-set is NOT super-short, but reasonable.

Sights look good/servicable.

Ergo; feels good; you can get two fingers on the grip, but not 3; of course this is just what you get with a "micro-compact". Striker-fired gun.

Weight is 17 oz. unloaded, 1 oz heavier than the Kahr PM9 - negligable difference.

Ambi manual safety.

Mag release is excellent. It's both of the coil-spring type, and 'always-ambidextrous' (can be pushed in from either side) - interesting.

Mag is high-quality steel 1911-style. 6 rounds. Excellent mag. I suppose it may be aluminum, but looks and feels like steel to me; either way is good.

Very carry/draw-friendly - meltdown job on slide is complete. The rear of front sight is a smidge sharp, but this would never actually hamper your draw, I don't think.

Very thin and concealable. Perfect for SmartCarry. Overall exudes good quality . Price seems eminently reasonable for the quality at $670.

I prefer a good aluminum over a good polymer frame, so it will definitely compete with the PM9 and others, as far as I am concerned.

Just slap some stippling front and back on future versions, Kimber, and you have my business.

Bottom line - I think we have a winner here, if it runs - which I'm sure Kimber wouldn't put it out there if it doesn't.

Now people, start buying them so CT will make a grip for them! :)

WOW! Thanks so much for posting this! I'm in love. I've been looking for a compact gun for carrying at work and I'm a huge Kimber fan. I didn't know anything about this little guy until now! I'm thrilled! Now to get over to H&H to take a peak...
