Taurus has probably the worst customer service out there. It is definitely something to take into account.

That's the real kicker.

The Taurus acutally gets pretty good reviews but based on their CS alone I would never purchase one of their firearms. There is some peace of mind knowing that you're firearms have lifetime warranties and that the company will indeed honor that warranty without problems.

Correction, sometimes my head is in a dark place, and then I hear a PoP! and I can see again. I am only speaking of the 45acp, I have no experience with the 9mm in a 1911 platform. Thanks Mike

I hear a lot of people talking about Taurus customer service. I'm actually getting ready to send in my 738 for some work so I guess I'll find out first hand. My dad probably won't have to deal with them though since he would be buying from Davidsons.

I have had several 45ACP RIA, no 9mm, but would defer to Ol Yeller on this, he has dealt with more of them than I have. My knee jerk reaction would be to stay away from Taurus, especially the automatics. I have had some Rossi revolvers, but haven't owned a Taurus auto myself. I know that bettingpython has a Taurus 1911 he really likes, but I do not have any real experience with them.

I have a RIA Tactical 9mm 1911 and absolutely love it! I have shot it in four matches now with ZERO malfunctions. It is definitely an outstanding value at it's price point.
