Frame is a Cerakote satin aluminum finish. Really pleased with how this turned out. Nice bright silver with just a bit of coarseness to it.Maybe it's my eyes (or my PC graphics), but I can't tell... is the frame stainless or coated?

I enjoy tinkering with my guns as much as shooting them. This is my first 1911 so didn't get too technical. I did a few things, some polishing, replacing springs, replacing the sights. It's been a pretty good learning curve. Once I can get the sear and disconnect reinstalled in less than 30 minutes I may tackle something more complected.
Do they ceracoat the frame rails or mask off?
I haven't checked yet. It still racks easily so I assume they taped them off. Now I'll have to home tonight and look.

You are correct, they didn't mask off the frame. No cerakote inside the slide. The slide still moves freely. There are some places on the frame that is down to metal. I'm guessing they painted it, then had to go back and sand it down until it operated smoothly again.
Ok thanks. I have a 1911 with a really nice slide/frame fit. I was thinking about giving it the two tone finish like you did.
I had them use Midnight Blue for the slide and Satan Silver for the frame. My instructions for the frame was to get as close as he can to a high polished blued finish. They absolutely nailed that. The Cerakote on both came out really nice. At $150 and a 5 working day turn around it was a good deal. If you want to take it to Blue Haven I would remove the sights first and/or specify they take them out and to tape off the rails.
