Everyone makes mistakes in life. It was very disrespectful what they did in Arlington but may we show them grace and we hope they have learned a valuable life lesson. In today's economy I would not want anyone to lose there employment over a sophomoric act. Part of the problem is how we as America have not instilled into emerging generations the respect of those that have laid their life down so that someone does have the freedom to post such a disrespectfull act. Better than losing their jobs would be for them to serve in a veterans in some matter so their patriotism and respect would flourish.

Actions have consequences, that seems to have been lost in the newer generations. Good for them to learn a lesson with harsh consequences, next time they may think before they do.

Lighten up Francis. I don't think most of you even understand what she was doing.

The sign says "Silence and Respect". She is doing just the opposite as a joke. Notice she is yelling and giving the middle finger, the exact opposite of what the sign says. I'm sure it was a goof involving the sign and had absolutely nothing to do with her feelings towards Arlington Cemetery.

I believe in the 1st Ammendment, even if your speech proves you to be a moron. That's all part of the deal.

Yep. Seems like an emotional knee jerk reaction rather than reasonable, getting her fired from her job and all. Her doing walks for charity and working with the disabled seems like she's a decent person. I wouldn't do it, but it seems like it's just a joke that backfired.

Take another look at the picture for the special olympic run.

I'd have put a piledriver on that cow right there on the spot.

Fired for posting stupid stuff on FB? Ok... she screwed the pooch and she is suffering the consequences of her actions.

I feel no sorrow for her, but I do hope she learned her lesson. Actions do have consequences, and simply apologizing does not erase consequences. She can certainly be forgiven and given the chance to show she is not a bad person... somewhere else. Next time, maybe she'll think about something before she does it, or at least before she posts it for all the world to see as a "joke".

Her life isn't ruined, she's not going to prison... she just has to live down her juvenile and disrespectful antics. And find another job.

Kudos to her employer, if you ask me.

Ok, after re-reading the story, I understand her getting fired, as she was on a work-sponsored trip and behavior on the clock is supposed to be 100% professional. The way the story is written in between gigantic photographs, I must have missed the sentence that mentions she went with co-workers and 40 residents.

Had this happened on personal time, then I would still 100% disagree with her being fired over a joke. A distasteful joke, yes, but a harmless joke.

Agreed. All to often anymore people get away with doing stupidly offensive stuff without having to pay for it in anyway, and it just seems to be getting worse. Nice to see something happen to her because of this and maybe next time she will think first.

Yep. Some things you simply do not joke about. And some places are not appropriate to joke around in. Arlington Cemetary is one of those places. How one can stand, look at all those headstones and not feel the loss and sacrifice represented there is beyond me.
