Yep. Some things you simply do not joke about. And some places are not appropriate to joke around in. Arlington Cemetary is one of those places. How one can stand, look at all those headstones and not feel the loss and sacrifice represented there is beyond me.

I agree completely. The sad part is she is disrespecting and dishonoring those that gave her the right to express her views. She's clueless.

Take another look at the picture for the special olympic run.

I'd have put a piledriver on that cow right there on the spot.

You really struck a nerve with this. Several years ago a fat friend of mine was out an a track, exercising. This happened in Lawton. A bunch of guys drove by and called her a cow, and a bunch of other similar stuff. She showed great restraint and left her .357 in her fanny pack, but part of her still wishes she hadn't.

I have no use for what the woman did at Arlington. That she was fired is fine with me. But, the fact that she is fat is incidental. If she was hot, would you have been more tolerant?

The "piledriver" would have been the cause of big life changes on the part of both the driver and the drivee. Of course it's one thing to say it and quite another to do it.

I think it was tongue-in-cheek, so I'm not too bothered by it, in spite of being overweight and most of my family being so as well.

Thinking of pulling a .357 on people making fun of you, even as a "talisman" when no threat of bodily harm was uttered is a bit over the top, though.

No better way to teach accountability than to actually hold someone accountable.

Posing for, taking, and posting that picture in a semi-public forum is indicative of a serious lack of judgement.

She should have been fired from her job simply for that demonstration of her lack of judgement. That was enough.

I get the joke. It isn't funny. It isn't appropriate, on the clock or off, and she's damn sure old enough (30) to know better.

Hopefully she'll learn from this experience, but my guess is she hires a mouth piece and sues for wrongful termination.

At least someone got it.

cb: If your friend wished she'd had pulled a gun on someone just from an insult, please get her to seek professional help. She sounds like a timebomb.

Missed the tongue in the cheek. Still trying to see it. And I never said my friend was a model of stability, though she hasn't shot anyone. Yet . . .

Just a hot button with me.

I'm not exactly what anyone would call "petite". I have gotten similar comments in my life. I don't see what the big deal is. Why does she feel the need to let those folks get in her head like that? I would have just smiled and waved ... And not given it another thought.

This is similar to the road rage thing. I don't get chasing down another car because the driver has pissed you off in some way. Why let people control you like that??

BTW, I'm not saying I am the model of restraint because nothing could be further from the truth. It's just that strangers, whom I've never seen before and will never see again do not generally affect me beyond a casual indifference and ocassional curiosity. That's all ...

When you come to visit could you hit Purplehaze for me? He's constantly insulting me.
