Stupid, petty, vain, greedy--just the first four adjectives that come to mind to describe the sitting Congress. How the devil, in a nation of more than 300 million, could the voters come up with 535 individuals more timorous, scurrilous, thoughtless, and heedless than the current crop of Washington, D.C. based poltroons that purport to govern us? After years of cozening the citizens of this country out of their hard-earned money, our elected representatives cannot even keep the government running...as if they haven't stolen enough money already? Everyday Congressional graft and corruption is an expensive sideline, I know, but surely there is enough money left over to pay the people that actually have to WORK for a living? If Congress could scrap up an additional $10,000 or so, perhaps a gallows on Capitol Hill to hang them all?

That's what you get for buying into the hype that the government is "shut down". It isn't.

That vast majority of federal government functions are open and business as usual. Yes, I know some actual honest and hard working folks are caught up in this and might be getting some time off (and the precedent exists for them to get back pay) but in reality not much has changed.

That's what you get for buying into the hype that the government is "shut down".

My GF went in at 6:00 am and worked 8 hours today for no pay. Got her forms for unemployment and has to watch the news to see if she'll have a job anytime soon. Not sure if that's "the hype" you are referring or not, but at our house, it ain't hype.

here is a negative, ft reno ghost tour may not occur unless govt gets it ass back to work. my wife is going to be pissed if we don't get to go to the ghost tour this month!!! Fing tea party bstrds. at least when it was just two sided the reps and dems they at least could somewhat work together to get something done, now with the reps being split with a bunch of hard asses, well no **** gets done.

You can bet your sweet a** that the NSA isn't shut down - they've got just enough to pay aholes to read your email, listen to your cell and landline conversations, and monitor "domestic threats" like these websites. It's the non-essential stuff that's shut down.
