This weekend was "We Are Mopar" at Texas Motor Speedway. A little over 1,800 cars there (mostly newer Challengers/Chargers/300c/Magnum) but a pretty decent selection of older stuff also. I wanted something different done last minute so took my car to the vinyl wrap shop on Friday night to get the roof wrapped. I think it turned out pretty good and he was cool enough to stay 2 hours late to do it for me. Got done at 8:30 on Friday night and I headed to Dallas at 6am Saturday morning.

They did an additional event there "Laps for Vets" where you can drive on the track. It goes to a veterans charity and from people doing this, the show donated $20,000 to the charity.
I put a Go Pro on the sunroof for the ride...

Top speed I got (briefly) was right around 100. It was generally cruising around 70 or so. I've gone in the past in my truck and done 120 but they really cracked down on it in recent years.

Those turns are so steep that it feels like driving on flat ground I'd think. Never driven the track, but stood on the corner where you're coming up to the main grandstands and was amazed at how steep it was looking down on it.

So thats a long story...I went from being kicked out, to escorted to the front of the line. So I was in line like half an hour. I heard it was 2-3 hours for "everybody else".

Whoa!! You are KIDDING me?? I know of some people who sat in line for 4-5 hours and finally gave up and left.

We were actually kinda relieved when we starting reading along on the posts on FB yesterday that we didn't make it. We were thinking about a quick down, look around for a couple, three hours and then head back home to take care of critters. We wouldn't have even made it into the event, based on what we read.

Basically the dude directed me and 8 cars behind me into a blocked off parking lot with no way out except the way we came in. When I got back to him and asked what the heck that was all about he threw an attitude which I reciprocated and he said I was banned from the event. He finally told me to get in line, pointed me in the right direction so there I went. After sitting there a few minutes he came by and told me to follow him and escorted me to front of the line. Got there, he appologized for being an a-hole (his words) and I went straight to registration.
