Used to smoke a few cigars here & there in my late teens & early 20s. Not often enough to get hooked though.

Never bought a pack of cigarettes that I recall. When everyone else was smoking in junior & high school, I couldn't afford the habit.

When I got up to between a pack-and-a-half and two packs a day, I quit buying them by the carton. I bought a pack at a time, and only let myself have one pack a day. That was long before I totally quit.

Kudos to all that quit, it's brutal to watch someone die from cancer, slowly, from smoking. Your family will appreciate it down the road.

You are so right. I watched my brother die of lung cancer at the age of 54. I had quit more than four years prior. He had actually quit several years earlier, and just decided he wanted to go back to smoking!!! He quit again just before he was diagnosed, and died a year later ... on my birthday.

I'm a relative noob. I laid them down in October of 2010 after being a smoker for 20 years and haven't missed them.

Not to mention the cost. A couple that smokes a couple packs of premium brands each will spend 800 a month. That’s a couple guns per month!

Good point! I 'swore' I would never pay a dollar a pack! Well, I didn't stick to that. When I quit, I was paying just over a dollar a pack. Still, that adds up. A dollar a day ... $365 a year ... in 1999 dollars, would buy some pretty nice firearms! (well, one a year, anyway)
