I have a family member who is an RN in Guymon, OK (panhandle). The county hospital doesn’t have an ICU and the national guard set up a COVID unit. The nurses aren’t ICU nurses and staffing isn’t where it needs to be in order to adequately take care of COVID patients; therefore, they have been completely overwhelmed in staffing, experience and with numbers to high to adequately provide care. At one point a few weeks ago, they couldn’t find a hospital willing to take a Covid patient within 500 miles. Denver, Kansas City, Lubbock, Amarillo, OKC, Etc....
You guys are correct that numbers aren’t as high or as bad and the death rate is 1% or so but know that the percentage has been based on hospital space and staffing. If hospitals are overwhelmed, those numbers go up.
It becomes more real for people when it becomes more tangible and it has effected a family member or close friend who gets really sick or if said family member dies.
I understand everyone’s side of the debate but everyone must understand that people who have been touched by the virus or work in it and see the harsh impacts are going to see things differently than those not negatively impacted.
I hope those of you who have not experienced bad sickness or who have not had anyone die continue to be blessed. Just know that some have experienced much more tragic experiences and therefore might have a different and stronger outlook when it comes to being a proponent of the vaccine.
