I agree with the freedom of an individual until it infringes on another. The problem with your comment is that everything you mentioned affects only that one individual, except with regards of wearing a mask. An infectious person could infringe on others and make them ill or cause death. A mask may or may not prevent another from becoming sick or causing a death from a virus you carry, but it’s a small price to pay even if the mask is only marginally effective.
I agree with this statement however everything we do can positively or negatively effect those around us either intentional or not. There has been no evidence that the mask work or don’t work, it’s all about making us feel good like we’re doing something positive, But it’s still very unlikely if you get it you will die from it. The case still remains as individual freedoms to choose what’s best for us. I am not opposed to wearing the mask and I do daily as a requirement for my job. However, I don’t feel like those who choose not too are doing any less or should be looked down upon because they share a different view. Both sides should learn to value each other’s differing opinions. This world has forgot it’s okay to disagree, but I won’t be guilt tripped by anyone else for my opposing views. I suspect those in favor of the mask and fear of infringing on others will be wearing them every year now for cold and flu season, right? I mean plenty of people die from the flu each year and you could be a possible carrier that gives to someone who dies from it...where does it end?!?

Who has the final say on mask infringement? Infringement for both sides? Freedoms will always "infringe on others", the ones that are opposed to Freedoms, that's just a given, as can be seen with cancel culture, Freedom of Speech and the 2A.

Agree and point taken. I don’t intend to wear a mask every year but I do take a flu shot. This COVID virus, however, seems to be much more contagious than the typical seasonal influenza virus.

It’s a moral interpretation by an individual. Either way can be an infringement.

Dennis - We agree on most everything (I can’t think of any subject except this one where we disagree). The use of a mask is intended to contain spittle and aerosols from an infected individual; reducing the virus load passed into the surrounding air.

Did you miss the part where all the “safe” people in masks are touching them every few seconds on the outside to adjust them putting their hands on the surface that is supposed to contain viruses and contaminating every other surface around them with their fingers?
Just tonight while taking our order in a restaurant the server with a face mask on, gloves and a long sleeve shirt touched the outside of his mask multiple times while taking our order that potentially contained a virus. He wore the same gloves all the time we were there as we didn’t have reservations and were seated in the cheap seats by the open kitchen. I watched him and the rest of the staff all the time we were there to see if any changed gloves, washed hands or did any thing else. They didn’t. High end restaurant BTW.
Our waiter was serving a table of 9, and two tables of two each.

I hope you can understand my feelings of what a joke all of this “sanitizing” is all about.
I take this virus seriously, but have major issues on how it’s being handled.
No harm in you not agreeing with my position. We all have an opinion based on our personal beliefs and observations.
That’s what makes us Americans with freedoms.

LOL - We agree. It’s not the ineffectiveness of the masks. It’s the ineffectiveness of the people who are wearing the masks. That has been my complaint all along. [emoji3]

"Moral interpretation" allows us to both be correct.....you think I could be killing people because I don't wear one, and I think you could be killing people because you think the masks work lol.

Except the medical experts have been telling us that you being infected and not wearing a mask are more likely to transmit the virus to others than me being infected and wearing a mask.

Depends on which medical experts we listen too. ALL of them agree on social distancing though, as do I. After so long though, everyone will have been exposed. If it's as contagious as we're led to believe, everyone has to have been exposed by now.

Agree. My personal and non-expert opinion is social distancing, hand washing, and masks are the order of priority. And, I think you are right, most of us have probably been exposed to the virus. I wonder if the load of exposure plays a role in the body’s response and the resulting illness.
