Totino's Party Pizza - ($.99 in college) + a little extra boiled ham + a little extra cheese
King Oscar sardines - STILL like these w/ an apple, nuts and cheese. More than $3 nowadays.
Gov't cheese
Pinto beans & corn bread - STILL a favorite
Corned beef and cabbage - I am amazed at how many ppl do NOT eat this in Oklahoma or even heard about it. Could be generational.

I grew up eating all that government food that they gave to welfare folk,,,
Mom ran a small antique shop (read small used stuff store).

She would pay cash for those government "commodity" foods from the recipients,,,
Apparently they felt they needed cash for cigarettes more than food.

Man, that government "Velveeta" cheese made great grilled cheese sandwiches.

But my absolute favorite was those big cans of chopped beef,,,
I think they were quart sized but would make sandwiches for me and my two brothers for a whole week.

The whole cooked chicken in a can wasn't bad either.

Just sayin'

Bought a can of the AusTex stew, it was cheaper than Dinty Moore. Was going deer hunting, figured easier to just heat it up than cooking something or a cold sammich.

That was the greasiest, saltiest, can of **** I ever had. It was so bad, I peeled the label off, wrote out my complaint and mailed it to to them.

Sidenote: AusTex is in Atlanta. ?????

2 weeks, I get a letter from AusTex: they aren't sure what my complaint is (what part of greasy, salty ****, my dog wouldnt eat, they don't understand, I don't know), but they send me 2 COUPONS for $0.25 off.

Ate boxes full of the commodity cheese and peanut butter, growing up. Along with SPAM, bologna, Vienna sausages.
Mostly homegrown version and game, we hunted, fish, caught or hog, we raised
