I wear hearing aids for it, they double as very nice Bluetooth head phones. Damn RPGs!!
I went shooting about 10 years ago and had ringing ears for about four months. It was the worse thing ever. The doctor told me that it would probably be permanent. Having Tinnitus for this period is what finally got into my brain that I need to wear hearing protection... I could only imagine what it would be like to have it all the time. What got me is that it wasn't shooting the 7mm Mag several times that caused it, it was a 9mm that a friend shot that the sound waves bounced off the truck door just right and nailed me! It was an instant ringing and plugged sound.
Yep, pistols are the worst. The AR is pretty damn loud too. Shotguns have never bothered me though.
