I have an old surplus roof rack from a police crown Vic. Stuck it my old 02 Dakota. It’s basically just a padded shelf that has a Velcro strap. My AR and 18” shotguns will fit in it. I really like it. Keeps the gun up and out of sight, out of the way but handy.
Sounds like he did a great job. Now let’s look at it from another angle. What does that say about the qualification course to test professional gunmen/women? What does it say about those professional gunmen/women who shoot the minimum qualification score of a 72?

Had a good time. It's good to shoot in crappy weather now and again. You don't get to choose your gunfight weather so it doesn't hurt to shoot a match in the rain.
Not a big fan of double mag pouches, most don't allow enough room to get your finger between the pouches in order to index the back magazine. Lots of people use them and I'm pretty much forced to on my duty rig but if I had my choice I would use two single mag pouches.
Lotsa good advice here. I would second the training ie TDSA and most of all she must be the one to choose. Let her decide what she can handle or can't. Let her make the decision, she is the one who will be carrying it, no one else.
