The stuff you saw at Walmart for $11 is probably the varmint tipped ammo. Walmart still has the $7 55g ammo, if you can find it. Just wait a little bit and ammo will be back to normal. Even if the government bans high cap mags or puts restrictions on ARs, I doubt they will ban ammo.

At that price, I'd buy a top of the line CMMG .22LR kit and several thousand rounds of .22LR (if you can find it). The kit would pay for itself!
