New ones are anywhere from $800-$1100 depending on where you get it and barrel length, etc. 44-40 doesn't have the interest that the 45 Colt version generates but there will still be people out there wanting this piece of history in replica. I have a 1866 in 38 SPL and it has become my favorite play toy.

I have found that Gunbroker is a good place to see what a current market is for most firearms. The prices found are generally on the high side of the market but will give you a good place to start.
