Ive used Dr Greyson for years. He does excellent work. He built a custom 1911 caspian for me. Accu-railled, hard chromed. It's sic. Makes nice little holes at 12 yards. I have his cell # if you still need contact info.
Since it is a relatively inexpensive gun, why not try it yourself? There's a lot of videos on the subject. I installed a bobtail on one of my Springers and installed a beavertail safety. The bobtail came out pretty well. The safety needs more work... Ed Brown sells the jigs, which should last a lifetime, and Village Tactical has a ton of assorted parts for one-stop shopping.Do you guys know if Dr. Greyson is swamped and backlogged constantly? My friend has a 1911 he won as a prize for selling tickets, but it needs some work. I think it's pretty simple stuff, but I know jack about tearing apart a 1911 and replacing or fixing things. His hammer will drop when the beavertail safety is not engaged, so it's an unsafe gun at this moment. I know Dr. Greyson does good work by all accounts, but I just don't know if this is such a simple little job it would be wasting his time, you know? Kind of like getting a master artisan to do a simple repaint of your living room, eh? lol Might want a little light trigger work on it, too. He has zero in the gun, so he is willing to put a few bucks into sprucing it up. It's some overseas version - I think Turkish, he said? I dunno, I'll ask - just hate to waste Dr. Greyson's time if he's backlogged with custom high-end jobs and such.
<edit> Just asked him - he said it is a "Girsan".
Bump?Bump for an oldie, but Mike doesn't appear to be on Facebook anymore, and accurateiron.com is down. Is he still an active member? As a backup plan, what's the docs OSA name so I could contact him?
