I’ve pretty much written off all the fast food joints in my home town.

McDs is probably the least horrible.

Taco Bell is Self-Serve ordering. Nope not doing your job for you.

Nobody at Braums will wait on you and their white shirts are all tan to grey in color from not being washed in weeks.

Boomerang is too expensive for the average food and the kitchen staff is suspect.

Taco Mayo is too expensive. Yup ours is pricey.

Sonic is falling apart. The drive thru is broken/closed 3 times as much as working. The girl who takes orders has a horrible speech impediment and you can’t understand her over any of the speakers.

The two pizza joints blow.

Fortunately there’s some Mexican restaurants options that are still okay.

Neighboring communities aren’t any better.

Yeah they’re worth top dollar.
What a sad outlook…

Nothing “happened to it”. Hundreds of thousands of young soldiers sailors and marines are serving for that reason among others as I type. Just like you did, I did, and my son is doing.

Things aren’t nearly as bad as this board makes it out to be.
So why is the military not meeting recruiting goals? Of course people are serving in the military. A lot of folks joined years ago to get money for college while serving their country. Fast forward to now. They want their college for free without sacrificing anything. My Grandson has $160,000 in college debt. He makes more money straight out of college than I ever have. Sooner or later he’ll pay back his debt, and so should everyone else.

" no business owner is going to pay skilled labor rates for unskilled workers. "

Business owners have very much started paying 'skilled labor rates' for unskilled workers because they cannot find enough skilled labor to do the jobs required. Blame this on those that pushed for college degrees over trade-work schooling for the mess America finds itself in.

Lot of degree'd, know-nothing folks sitting around crying about having to pay back their education loans while 1,000's of jobs go unfilled because no-one knows how to turn a wrench or pound a nail. Do high-schools even have shop classes anymore?
ALL successful societies have one thing in common, a successful business economy! The FREE MARKET system is the only system that has ever been successful throughout history!! We have the undisputed highest standard of living in human history, because of two things, THE RULE OF LEGISLATED LAWS, NOT MEN, AS FLAWED AS IT IS, AND A FREE MARKET ECONOMY, AS UNJUST AS THAT SEEMS AT TIMES!! If allowed to function freely, this type economy will correct it's on problems!! Government interference, is always a mistake in the long run!! They can, and should, feed, and house, the REAL NEEDY, and turn the parasites out to fend for themselves! This high minimum wage would simply increase the already OUT OF CONTROL INFLATION, AND THE $20.00 WOULDN'T BUY ANY MORE THAN THE WAGES THEY GET NOW! Venezuela has had ONE MILLION PERCENT INFLATION, FOR YEARS, THEY JUST KEEP ADDING 0'S TO THEIR CURRENCY, AND IT STILL WON'T BUY ANYTHING!! It went from the nation with the highest standard of living in South America, to the nation with the lowest standard of living in only 20 years, thanks to communism, sharing the wealth, (making everyone equal!!) REMEMBER Obama going to Venezuela, when President, and PRAISING Hugo Chavez, as a GREAT LEADER? OVERWHELM THE NEXT RIGGED ELECTION, OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES!!

I believe (and my currently serving son too) that the recruiting efforts went too far into weirdo territory and they lost the key demographic for our military which is white males. If you turn them off you lose the bulk of your recruits.

My sons battalion is at least 95% white male but every video the army puts out on them shows mainly female and minority soldiers.

Now, in the last 90 days the new ads coming out on the army YouTube page have went back to fighting and showing a lot more white males, which is what you need to fill our ranks.

All honest work is honorable.

A lot of you are snobs.

Gripe about those not willing to work, make fun of those working the jobs that are “beneath you”.
You’re going to have to be more specific and help me understand where folks here have been “snobs”. Nothing wrong with most any job however I’ve said and will to continue to say that unskilled labor should NOT be paid skilled labor wages. I don’t think that disrespectful. And if an 8 year old can do your job then that’s a good indication you are an unskilled laborer. Ya wanna make more money? Learn a skill that deserves a higher wage and don’t complain that you should be making $20 an hour for clearing a tray off a table.

Nope, I don’t see that at all. It’s simply a factual way to bring perspective to people that think their abilities are worth far more than they actually are. There’s not a darn thing wrong being a table cleaner or burger wrapper but when you think you should be paid on the same level as a welder, nurse or mechanic then you aren’t living in reality. And to think you do sounds an awful lot socialism. Value as a human being and value as an employee are two totally different things. Guess I’m just not one to coddle people that don’t deserve it.

Yeah they’re worth top dollar.

And to think that your entry in the "Location" part of the Avatar area reads, "Cultural Center of the Universe."

Now, I'm curious as to what is going on "culturally" that makes such a claim.
