20 Round mag to CA-LEO. Legal?

I used to live in that forsaken state. I'd go into my most frequented gun store and there would be the displays of stuff I could buy. Then off by itself was a display case marked "For Law Enforcement Only." It had larger capacity magazines, switch blade knives, etc.

I wouldn't ship anything to that place.

I wouldn't ship anything to California. Plus the guy sounds like he is on a high horse looking down because he is "entitled". I would inform him you are unwilling to ship it to him and sell it else where.

As above, I would tell him no. He can order it thru his official channels of entitlement. He can go EFF himself.

Can't you just ship it disassembled or something? I thought there was some loophole where you could ship it as a parts kit or something, IDK.

Risk vs reward.

Unless he paid you a phenomenal amount that you cannot hope to get elsewhere you have no financial risk selling it to someone else.

If you trip over the law and it turns out you violated a law the potential down sides are not worth the risk and I can't imagine he is paying you enough to cover a lawyer if you have to fight anything.

Odds are you may not have a problem but if you do the downside in our legal system for violating gun laws can be catastrophically expensive.

The relevant Penal Code is 12020(a)(2)

magazine.

(c) (25) As used in this section, "large-capacity magazine" means any
ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10
rounds, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:
(A) A feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it
cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds.
(B) A .22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device.
(C) A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action
firearm.

If it turns out his id is Photoshopped that leaves you hanging in the wind.

NO!!! California could be looking for to make an example of someone to discourage others from shipping hi-capacity mags to CA. Better safe then sorry.
