308 for deer?

I use both a .243 and .308 for deer, although if I could only have one, it would be the .308. Used a 150 gr. Federal on the last deer I shot and dropped him in his tracks.

Thanks for all the great responses. I think I've settled on a remington sps tactical in 308. It will kind of be a dual threat hunting/range gun, which I can throw a bipod on when going to the range.

sounds like a nice rifle. you will like the 308 thats what i mostly use to deer hunt with. last year i shot 3 deer with my ar 223 i biult and all three never took a step. but i will be using my 308 this year again due to longer possable shots this year.
