Moboost, I was editing while you were posting.

See above. Again... lol

Edit again: So you wanna play with autos? .357 Sig was developed to duplicate .357 Magnum revolver ballistics.

Buffalo Bore #25A (125 grain JHP)
Sig. Mod. 229, 4 inch barrel - 1,430 fps (567 ft. lbs.)

Buffalo Bore #25B (125 grain JFP)
Sig. Mod. 229, 4 inch barrel - 1,433 fps (575 ft. lbs.)

:smash: :D

The only thing 357sig proves is that 40SW was a good design. 357sig was a solution to a non-existing problem. It's cute that they capitalize on the 357 Magnum popularity - even though technically it uses 9mm bullet (.355 NOT.357), but how else would it sell?

This thread was about 38 vs. 357, I thought, not 9mm.No doubt the 357 packs more wallop but at a huge muzzle blast/recoil cost.Particularly out of a short barrel.I would way rather fire a 38 +p without hearing protection than a 357.You're not going to have your ear protection on unless you're at the range. Some how NYPD Stakeout Squad member Jim Cirrilo killed many bad guys with his k frame S&W 38 special, once again proving it's the man behind the gun,not the gun, that wins gun fights.

While i like 9mm much more than .38's or .357's(and .45acp more than anything)...I agree that the .357 magnum has more power.
Does a gun having more recoil and higher ft lbs of energy mean a deadlier gun...no, not at all. Hurts your target and your hands.
I'm not a recoil sissy by far, by i'm not gonna sit here and say i love to shoot a 357 cause it feels good.
