Brakes are nice outdoors for mitigating recoil, but I wouldn't want or recommend one for an indoor gun.

In an inclosed room or hallway, the permanent hearing loss that an older person would experience would not be greatly exacerbated by the use of a brake, but the tactical advantage of a well placed follow up shot would be priceless.

In the end, to each his/her own. Again, the OP asked for opinions, I shared mine. I have a $200 brake on the 12GA next to my night stand, and it will probably be the only brake that will be available on our Ultimate HD/CQB shotgun we hope to release next month. Why? Because we want something that's going to keep you on target until you no longer feel threatened! We feel that our weapon system has accomplished this.

Thanks,
Mike
