$499 for a MOSIN?

I just about fell over when I saw the price tag, then my wife reminded me we were in CABELAS.

I kid you not. There, on the used rack, next to a Remington model 12, and a swiss K31, was a non-descript run-of-the-mill Mosin Nagant M91/30.

Price tag: $499.

WOW!!!! That's a great price. Assuming it's a very rare - non refurbished, Finnish safe queen, built on a 1891 Tula receiver, that was used by Vasily Zaytsev, with proven documentation, of course...

So what's a realistic price on a basic one? Saw one at Camo Corner for $299 and been thinking of picking it up sometime, but keep hearing they're really like a hundred bucks or something.

They have gone up but a common, round receiver, arsenal refurbished model can still be had for under $200.

They're $500 if someone's trying to sell you one or $100 for the exact same gun if they're trying to buy it from you.

Wow, must be great stuff! I have a spam can of 54r for my mosins, been tripping over it for 3 years in my loading room. can't seem to find a reason to break the seal on it.

What was the price/caliber on the Model 12 Rem?

I think the tag said $600. Seemed to be in good shape. little pricey.
