500+ yd public near OKC?

I was wondering if there were any long ranges open to the public within a reasonable drive from Norman/OKC?

I don't think so, find an OKGC member that has a high power range check out

The only range I know of is the OKC Gun Club but it is a membership range. Find somebody that is a member and they can take you as a guest five times per year.

Has anyone ever done this? Safety would be of concern though it shouldn't be worse than during hunting season.

I donjt remember the name but there was one down by grandfield that I heard about. Suppose to have a thousand + yards.

Well if you fire into a washout or something, you wouldn't have to worry about what's behind it. There are plenty of long open runs at Lexington.
Game wardens would know more though, it would be a long hunt trying to find the perfect one on your own.
