You may want to dump the chain and use something like a baler belt. It’s aggravating to have to walk or ride several hundred yards to fix a cut chain.
Fire hose will take hundreds of hits before breaking.

I bet it will but I don’t have access to fire hose
Local fire dept have to routinely inspect and replace hoses. Just stop by and ask if they have any used hose. Three rural fire dept in my county have monthly inspections and will give it away if a fireman doesn't want it or request it.

Exactly. The belting be it baler or cut conveyor belt we use at the range can take many hits before needing replaced.

As items decinegrate you'll make adjustments to the way they hang. I like the 2x4 brackets but they also have pipe brackets as well. You can have many plates hanging from a 8 foot 2 x . All can be found on flea bay.
