Here is mine: CG 1901, bolt/reciver match - rest doesn't. There is a bayo lug under the barrel but not in front. Had Marlin gold dot front sight blade - but I got that taken care of ;)

Nice! It even has an original M94 sling? The metal piece underneath the barrel, extending from the barrel band to the nose piece, indicates this to be one of the M94/14 conversions, but apparently either the bayo lug was cut/ground off, or the lug/nose piece portion was cut off and replaced with a non-converted nose piece. The M94/14 nose piece and bayo lug IIRC (not having my reference books in front of me) should be machined from the same block of steel as the long piece under the barrel, to lend strength to the mounting of a bayonet. Do you have any close-up pics of the underside and front of the nose piece?

The lack of a barrel extension means either the extension was cut off after importation, or else this M94/14 was imported to the US prior to the enactment of the rule mandating a minimum barrel length (in 1968, I believe). I bet you can tell through a close inspection of the barrel, especially if the nose piece is removed, which one is the case. Are there any import marks either on the barrel or on the receiver?

Hopefully you won this with a bid typical of the M96's? :wink2:

I can't compete with M94 porn so I'll have to go with ammo porn.

Hey, nothing wrong at all with the other Swedish Mausers - in fact, the ones I see popping up on the top 10 lists of competition shooters are the M96's, not the M94's.

You've got quite the variety of ammo there! Norma brass, from what I hear, is some primo reloadable stuff, up there with Lapua. I can't make out what that box is in the upper right, though; below that one, isn't that Sellier and Bellot?

I've only got a few battle packs of this stuff :wink2:

I could kick myself for not buying more cases of Prickskytte several years ago when Samco had it. It was cheaper per round too if you bought several cases. The vendors at Wanenmacher had the stuff as well up until five years ago or so - I remember seeing one fellow with dozens of battle packs stacked on the floor under his table, along with packs of Swiss GP-11. Ah, well.

It's a box of Winchester and yep, the box below it is S&B. I have one box left of the Prickskytte but can't bring myself to fire it. I have a few boxes of the wood practice ammo and it's fun to blast away with. One of those boxes of Norma is some big dog 156gr stuff. I know what you mean, though: Swede ammo at the gun shows is all but gone. The cheapest I've seen it now is 100 rounds of Prvi for $75 delivered.

Thanks, criticalbass for starting this thread and sorry we derailed it a bit. Swedish Mausers are the stuffin'. We should start a new thread in the photo section. Now I seem to remember some talk about a milsurp section......

Keep an eye on aimsurplus - they have good deals on PRVI ammo but out of it as we speak.

PPU brass is not bad - needs a bit of massaging, and with some culling can produce very accurate loads.

S&B - horrible brass, too brittle and too thin.

Winchester is bit better than PPU - just because less cases get culled, still need to be heavily worked over.

Lapua is the king - and for some reason they sell their 6.5x55 brass cheaper than other calibers (7.62x53R is over $100/100). Good deal on Lapua brass here.
