Seems that the Amazon policy prohibits 80% lowers but a 1:1 replica paperweight is fine.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...1395063841&sr=8-11&keywords=80+lower+receiver

Product Description
Highest quality 7075-T6 paperweight on the market, Identical in every cut to look exactly like an 80% lower, show off that you support the second amendment with this high quality paperweight sitting on your desk. 1 to 1 replica paperweight.

Seems there is always a way to circumvent a rule if you look hard enough.

The appeal is supposed to be the fact that there is no serial and is therefore not registered. which means it can't be confiscated (in theory) - but it can also never be sold once it's finished.

Yeah the 80% lowers are as much as or more than a complete. . . the polymers are less but some people like the "Hey I did it myself factor." otherwise Aviator is correct.

I do get the "I did it myself" factor. I've finished two 0% lowers and am working on two more right now. It's a fun process.

You mean a block of steel/aluminum/etc.?

That's cool.

But I'd also like to caution everyone with this little tidbit of advice. If you are buying one of these so that it is not "traceable" and cannot be "confiscated" when/if the time comes, then please, don't keep it next to your other weapons that you did buy on a form 4473. I think that if they are coming for your guns, they are going to take all of them that they see, whether or not it has a serial number on it or not.

I guess what I am really saying is that "invisible" to the ATF does not actually make your gun invisible IRL.

FWIW

The bold is incorrect.

Well now, thats a very potent response. you've changed my mind.

Perhaps the answer is this: you'd have to be an idiot, willing to poke the bear-in-the-cage that is the ATF. you may come out on top in the end, but getting to the end will require a checking account with lots of zeroes on the left side of the decimal point and being okay with the color orange - at least temporarily.

So, who wants to play?
