I have a shark navigator pro and have been thoroughly impressed. I compared it to a family members dyson ball and I like the shark better.

Thanks for the input guys. Some detailed posts which definitely help. If the Dyson worked twice as well as the Shark, I might consider it, but I can't imagine a $200-300 vacuum cleaner won't pick up 99% of what the $500-600 vacuum does.

I just got through buying a new vacuum..We had a Dyson for the last 6 years and the thing actually broke in half a couple weeks ago..I got ready to break the handle back and start vacuuming and the whole damn thing just snapped.. I started comparing and shopping on Amazon and finally ordered the Shark Navigator, Lift Away Pro...So far I've been really impressed..It has been better then I could have ever imagined..we have an indoor Lab and so vacuuming was and still is a daily job..This thing got hair the first use that I'm sure had been in the rug a while..over half of house is hard wood and it works really well on it also..It also comes with a special dust away head that is made for wood floors but I actually haven't tried it yet..another attachment is what it calls a pet, powder brush..Actually a smaller head that has a built in wind driven brush..this is really the thing to use on pet hair..Anyway, I just can't say enough good things about it..Maybe it won't last 6 years like the Dyson, but it cost less then half as much as the Dyson and is a much more powerful machine..If interested, the one we ordered on amazon was the Shark Navigator Lift Away Pro model NV 355..Good luck..VIKING

I think our current Hoover came with one of the wind driven pet hair tools as well. I used it a time or two, but tended to push on it too hard, stopping the brush. I started using the crevice/brush tool as a combo. I supposed better suction would equal higher RPM on the tool, allowing for more aggressive cleaning.

We have a Bissell. Can't remember the model, but it's bagless. Had it about 4 years, still picks up great. Just clean it, and replace filters periodically.
We have a cat, toddler, and wife that shed worse then a dog. Picks every thing up out of high shag carpet, low carpet, and tile.

If you get a chance to check the Model, I'd appreciate it Kyle!

What did you find you liked better about the Shark?

I felt it picked more up and was lighter and less cumbersome, the other thing is the dyson did lose suction when it's filters got clogged and it wa a pain to disassemble and get to them. It was my wife's grandmothers and she had it 3 months before she put it awa and went to something different ( mind you she has no pets and it got clogged that badly). Now me I have 3 dogs and two cats one of the dogs is a corgi so his hair is everywhere and the shark is amazing, the only thing I want with my vacuum is the hardwood attachment.

Not trying to hijack the thread, but what do you recommend for the &#*$^* hair that twists up on the roller?

My wife has long hair and it's everywhere in the house.
Every time the vacuum gets used, I have to trim-off (cut) the hair buildup out of the roller.
We've got a Hoover Wind tunnel for what it's worth. I like the self-propelled aspect of it.

Thanks for the thread.
I'm open to trying a different vacuum if I can avoid the maintenance hassle(s).

Had the Dyson Ball, DC25 (I think), for over 6 years...not one single problem with it. Works perfect since the day I got it...I vacuum twice a week. Dog hair, wifes hair...nothing can stop that thing.

Yes they look cheap...but that plastic they use is solid. I have rugs/tile/hardwood, and can seamlessly vacuum all of those in no time flat.
